The threat of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) from nasal pathogens
The majority of common Surgical Site Infection (SSI) pathogens are known to colonise the nose.1 SSIs, which are a common type of HAIs, present a serious risk and affect around 11 in 100 patients.2
These infections also carry a significant financial burden, with the superficial SSI costing about £10,000 and an organ-space SSI cost of up to £100,000.3

How Steriwave works
Steriwave® is a potent light-activated antimicrobial that binds specifically to microbes upon application. When activated with red light, it generates reactive oxygen species that rapidly destroy a broad spectrum of microbes within moments, including MRSA, without harming human tissue. This brief, five-minute** treatment which replaces a seven-day protocol is non-invasive and does not involve the use of antibiotics.
** Four minutes treatment time + one minute nursing time.
